Additional Opportunities for Students
All-District Honors Orchestras
Most SoCal String Studio students participate in LBUSD’s Middle School and High School All-District Honors Orchestras every year.
SoCal String Studio has maintained a 100% acceptance rate to the LBUSD Honors Orchestras, with a high volume of students placing into the 1st violins, principal 2nd and concertmaster roles.
If you are not in LBUSD, your district may also have an honors orchestra, so be sure to ask your school music teacher!
CODA All-State/Honors, and SCSBOA All-Southern Honors Orchestras:
Auditioning for these orchestras is recommended only for advanced players as these programs are highly selective. Ask Mrs. McAllister if you are interested in working towards auditioning for these groups.
Zephyr Chamber Music Camp
Zephyr Chamber Music Camp is where Ms. Emma spent all of her summers in childhood, and is now returning as a coach! Spend a week right on Lake Tahoe playing chamber music with students of all ages and levels. The faculty is made up of top-notch musicians and educators from the San Francisco Bay area. Activities include skit night, movie night, an ice cream social, and spontaneous sight-reading sessions. Check out the website for more info!
Arrowbear Music Camp
Several SoCal String Studio students have attended Arrowbear Music Camp in the summers and have had a wonderful time. They have several sessions throughout the summer for orchestras of varying ages and levels.
